You know, they say every song has an inspiration, some kind of story
I started this next one on a late-night bus ride to New York in 1982
And I realized all of us on the road were missin' our loved ones
And paid a price for that road life we live
These days I think about some other folks that pay a price for the life they live
That would be the men and women in our hospitals, in the E.R. 
That risk it all for our wellness, for our healing
Even the people in the grocery stores, thank you
