[Concert intro]
Good evening
We're your local Velvet Underground
We're glad to see you
Thank You
But we're uh particularly glad on a serious day like today
That people could find that little time to come out and have Some fun to rock and roll
'cause these are serious times
Or I've been told they are
And since they're serious
We felt impelled to do a very serious set
So this is going to be a very serious rock and roll set
And I don't want any of you to enjoy yourselves frivoulously(?)
Because it will run against national policy
Which rhymes by the way, which is how poets are
Anyway...where I come from they arrest people for less than that
And they won't give you a car
This is a song that was written under the influence of dreams
And it's about one man's journey from uptown to downtown
[Verse 1]
I'm waiting for my man
Twenty-six dollars in my hand
Gone up to Lexington, 125
Feeling sick and dirty, more dead than alive
