Sean South The Irish Brigade

Sean South - The Irish Brigade
[Intro]
Once more, throughout her hills and vales
The voice of Ulster called
And her echoing wail on the northern gale
Resounds of Limerick's walls
Oh, but not in vain! Her cry of pain, though heard by one, alone
Oh, for to her heed, with gun and blade, came Sean, from Garryowen

[Verse 1]
It was on a dreary New Year's Eve
As the shades of night fell down
When the lorry load of volunteers
Approached a border town
There were men from Dublin and from Cork, Fermanagh, and Tyrone
You're on your own!
But the leader was a Limerick man
Sean South from Garryowen

[Verse 2]
And as they moved along the street
Up to the barrack door
They had scorned the danger they might meet
The fate that lay in store
They were fighting for old Ireland
To claim their very own
And the foremost of that gallant band
Was South from Garryowen
