I’m Taking Care of Him Bend

I’m Taking Care of Him - Bend
He was a hero of a modern age.
He had us figured out.
So many people are so filled with rage.
And we filled him doubt.

North Carolina, it wasn’t her place,
They said when she was found.
She don’t belong in the human race.
She couldn’t stick around.

She’s so cruel and so sad,
And oh, she don’t care about strangers.
She loved romances and sun
And dresses and movies and danger.

He said, No Mama it’s just a phase.
She said, This ain’t your home.
Out on the street he sold wisdom for praise
And wept in mono-chrome.

She can’t stop dancing and tripping
And falling and smoking and sipping.
And all the colors around her are
Haunting and changing and dripping.

So tonight, while everyone else was wasting,
I stayed in. He cried. She moaned.
I’m taking care of him.
