I remember as a child
Looking off of the rooftop
As I grew, the view got lost
But the clouds never seemed to stay
Stay
This, yes I know, that my blood maintains its flow
Even though I might not
I get caught in tunnel-visioned single-minded thoughts
But the older I became
My view of life would change
Every lesson that's worth learning brought me pain
I hope we get what we deserve
A little taste of what we were
I’m learning that nothing gold can stay
Owning up to our past mistakes
Stakes
Now I can say
There are times I've dodged the blame
I confess
It rolled back, it rolled back
Like a game
God, it made me sick
The way it hit when it all came
Looking off of the rooftop
As I grew, the view got lost
But the clouds never seemed to stay
Stay
This, yes I know, that my blood maintains its flow
Even though I might not
I get caught in tunnel-visioned single-minded thoughts
But the older I became
My view of life would change
Every lesson that's worth learning brought me pain
I hope we get what we deserve
A little taste of what we were
I’m learning that nothing gold can stay
Owning up to our past mistakes
Stakes
Now I can say
There are times I've dodged the blame
I confess
It rolled back, it rolled back
Like a game
God, it made me sick
The way it hit when it all came
