Interview 3: Tanya Tagaq Björk

Throat singing is, um, traditionally, any throat singing comes from my culture, and it’s a game, with two women bouncing their voices back and forth, and it’s kind of, uh, emulating the land or animals or, you know, whatever’s around. It’s a game to see who can do it the longest without messing up, traditionally. But, I mean, I’m a painter and, you know, I like expressing myself, so it turned into this.
