"Sad Story" with Heather Sommers is a track that we also wrote in LA, on that same trip. We wrote it with Heather and Eden Neville. And this track to me is about anxiety, and just like, struggling with your thoughts and your mind. And I think one of the main points is that the sad story thing is like you don't wanna be a victim to those thoughts, and you know, your shortcomings. Like you always wanna fight the good fight because you know you're gonna eventually, like, see things through.
Stuart Brookes:
Yeah, and one of the important aspects of this song is how she keeps fighting, the narrator keeps fighting in the track. And she realizеs that by continuing to push forward, it's something that was worth it, and you know, she is in a bettеr place on the other side.
Joachim:
Yeah, and like structure wise, this track was right in the middle between the melodic section and the heavy tracks. So we approached it as kind of like a pivot moment, where it's like half of it gets a bit heavier, that like trap-ier second drop, compared with like the more melodic first drop.

It leads us into the second half of the album, more simply.
