Today as I went walking
I looked around carefully
At the things people worship
As their deity
Things they do to their bodies
That eats away at their minds
They want a Garden of Eden
But it's a place they'll never find
The idle things you worship
This I proclaim to you
That the God who made everything
Is the one I take my troubles to
And if you search for Him
He's never far from you
He's not a part of my imagination
And not made by human hands
He gives life and breath to every mortal
I'm just trying to make you understand
In Him we live and move and have our being
I heard the scripture say
That the Lord has been patient
But He's comin' back one day
And if you search for Him
He's never far away
