Subic - Harry McClintock
"Tell us about that song. I call it 'Zamboanga', you call it 'Subic', but, uh, I'd like you to tell us about it and sing it too."

"Well, uh, Sam, uh, that, that song was a sort of a, the enlisted man song in the Asiatic Squadron for a good many years, and where they got it was from the Philippine Constabulary Band. The, uh, band was featured at the St. Louis exposition in 1904, and uh it was about 150 strong, and they had this, uh, march that was at that time the official Constabulary March. I don't know whether it is or not now. But anyway, the, uh, the [?] got a hold of that tune-"

"How did that march go, that little tune? That little tune-"

[Da-da-da-da]

"And well, uh, the [?] got a hold of it and they proceeded to write words of their own to it. Uh, some of em, uh, are usable. Some of them are not. And more of them are not"

"Sing all of them"

Oh, the monkeys have no tails in Zamboanga
The monkeys have no tails in Zamboanga
The monkeys have no tails, they were chewed off by the whales
The monkeys have no tails in Zamboanga

The carabao have no hair in Mindanao
The carabao have no hair in Mindanao
Oh, the carabao have no hair, holy Jesus, they look bare
Oh, the carabao have no hair in Mindanao

Oh, the ladies don't wear teddies in Manila
The ladies don't wear teddies in Manila
The ladies don't wear teddies, they are always rough and ready
The ladies don't wear teddies in Manila
