Recording "Espresso," looking back on it
Was such a special moment in time
And I remember it not taking too long
To kind of get this vocal
But it was because of the fact that we wanted it
To be very silky-smooth and sweet
And kind of addictive in the same way that caffeine is
And Julian Bunetta, who produced it, just kind of
Crushed that in every way, shape, and form
And I remember writing with, um, Steph Jones and Amy Allen
And we were just— we were kind of off our rockers at this point
Because wе wrote the song later in thе day
And, and recorded it, uh, very late at night
I feel like it was, like, 1 in the morning or something, so
Um, a lot of fun was being had
And my poor producer John Ryan was there the whole trip
Went to the hospital that day, so unfortunately
He missed out on writing "Espresso" with us
So we like to— we like to dedicate this song to him
Um, and hope that he feels better now
