Down Too Long Holy Locust

Down Too Long - Holy Locust
Hold me like some broken bone mangled in a mess, I been here before. So I sit around and count the cracks tangled in the wall and stare through that window pane

When you walk down to the levy bring your box of broken bottles so they can drift down on back to the sea. The muddy Mississippi sings the song of St. Louis but it all sounds the same to me

I been down here for too long
I can see the stars tonight

Everywhere I go I see the fruit of wicked seeds that been sown down in the swampy soil. I stroll down to the quarter with a nickel and a dime and I ain't coming back this time

Sometimes its the weather and other times the rain, sometimes you gotta start again. So bury me in concrete and green and purple beads til that brass band rolls round again

I been down here for too long
I can see the stars tonight
