Eric! I saw Eric play a concert about two years ago and he said "well, this is a song I wrote about a penny." He introduces the song by saying that he always felt sorry for pennies because pennies are kinda the underdog of coins and that he always roots for the underdog.
And I was sitting in the audience listening to him say that and I thought "oh, what a punk! What a great idea for a song!" So I uh, so after the show was over with, I said "hey man, that was a great idea, but you ended up writing something totally different than what I would have written, you went a whole different direction, so do you care if I try to write a song like that?" and he said, "no, that's fine, I don't care."
And six months or so later I called Eric up and I said "oh man, guess what, I finally finished that song, I titled it 'Spare Change.'" And he kinda was silent on the phone, and he goes "well, Andrew, that's what I titled my penny song." So this is called Loose Change.
