I'm thinkin' today about a story
Of a denied mother
I said I'm thinkin' right now about a story
Of a denied mother
This lady had a daughter and she sent her away to college
And at the end of the year, all of the children returned home
Lord, Jesus
Lord, Jesus
And as they went, stepping onto the train
Their mothers and their fathers
Was standing there with their arms wide open
Waiting
Waiting to greet them with a kiss
But this girl that I have referenced to today
When she stepped off the train
Her cruel mother was standing there with her arms wide open
But do you know what she did
She just turned her head like she didn't even see the lady
And walked right on by
Great God
But this lady, in spite of what her daughter had done
You know a mother loves a child
I wish I could get all the mothers to stand up today
She ran behind her and spoke to her
She said, I wanna know why you didn't greet me like them other kids did
Of a denied mother
