First saw the light in the end of June
Nights were so bright and birds were in tune
I was given a voice, I used it to cry
As we have no choice to live or to die
Then a little bird came to my windowsill
And it called my name and it made me still
‘Little sweet bird,’ said I, ‘won’t you sing me a song?
I don’t want to cry, we will get along’
Then the little bird sang his sweet song to me
Soon I knew by heart the precious melody
Then he flied away to the ether skies
So I made my way through the child’s eyes
And I sang the song, and the people came
Where does it come from? Can you do it again?
So I sang the song and the people wept
I sang on and on while the winter crept
Then I looked around: everyone was gone
So I lost the song, oh the little bird’s song
