And how it means something on more than one level
In the most literal sense, Ben meant
That his wife had brought Brutus to Ulla at the refuge
But, as in “deliver us from evil,”
It can also mean “saved” or “set freed” or “rescued”
And Brutus was delivered in this way too
From the version of the story where he didn't make it
And they butchered him and sliced out his internal organs:
A fowl, disemboweled and eviscerated
I was touched to see Ben write “delivered”
But things just as easily might have differed
If they'd cut and cleaved and knifed his innards
It'd be “Duck de-hyphen-livered.”
