Certainly, Yet Patricia Taxxon

Certainly, Yet - Patricia Taxxon
Its 2AM in the back of a cab, in a sense
I told the driver I could always offer any expense
It's a trip down a boulevard I couldn’t recall
Lights around my window and sparks in the walls
I told him, “Stop the car!”
And a forward jump, telling me the vehicle had broke with a start
I don’t know even know where we are
I don’t know where we are (we are)

I give a look, take a breath, then I open my bag
I give my pleasantries to driver, then I throw him his cash
2AM, but I find that I can see quite clеar
Silver cobbles, red firеflies and crystals appear
There’s something singing aft
Not a voice, but an effervescent image waiting right down the path
Running now, with a purpose I just can’t introspect
Certainly yet, certainly yet

Can you remember when I came upon you there in the dark?
Even now, I never knew if you could see me or not
Glory be, it was something I could barely describe
A great figure made of thunder, with planets for eyes
I couldn’t see my paws, held in front of my face
I took a knee, turned around and scampered away
Your voice still echoing, I fled from the den
I never found it again
