Two a.m., been driving all night
Down a long, dark Delta road
No one around for miles, I need to stop for
Awhile
Still got a long way to go

Then I see a sign sayin' "Spend Some Time
In Alligator, Mississippi"
Right over the hill, that's where I'll get my fill
Of Alligator, Mississippi

I stop at the store, a hundred folks or more
Are gathered in the parking lot
They got guns and knives, evil in their eyes
And I feel my knees start to knock

It's a scary scene
I mean, like nothin' I've never seen before
Felt like a fish outta water, a lamb to the slaughter
Alligator bait for sure
