Casey Jones was an old engineer. When he first went out on the road his wife didn't want him to go. She steps to the door and calls him:
Casey! Don't leave me here!
Casey Jones, please don't leave me
[Spoken]
He said "let me in the cabin." Little children come as holerin', cryin', "Papa don't leave me here!" He couldn't stand that
Daddy! Daddy! Don't leave us here
[Spoken]
Hе couldn't stand that--he told the farmer, said "got to gеt away from here!" Reached up and got the bell, and commenced to...
He pulled out [saw him left?] and then I heard him up the road and them, them drive wheel jumping over the joints...
Wife still holerin', cryin', "Casey don't leave me here."
[Spoken]
Then up the road there he run up some sheep, he blowed for'm to get off the track...
They wouldn't get off, he had to stop his train and commence cuttin down, I heard him [go like?]...
It made him sorta mad, he had to stop his train; commenced cursin', 'cause they had to stop his train and run'm off the track--here's what he said...
Now what he say: "Damn them sheep!"
Casey Jones, please don't leave me!
[Spoken]
After that he got a little behind time and he could hear them drive wheel, track-wheel, look like tryin' to catch together...
People got scared, one lady on there, she commenced singin', "Lord have mercy, save me lord!"...
