We took a car, we took a train
And every little bit
O every little bit
Was both the same
The streets were gravelly and cracked
The sun spread blisters on our backs
My brother warned me:
"Next town up, I think it's full of savages!"
We used our thumbs and traded names
And all the faces then
Or at least most of them
They seemed the same
We woke up to the sun when it had gotten unavoidable
Our empty satchels silent and our stomachs crumbling
And oh how we can't win
We'll pull through I'm sure
We saw the roof tops on a slope
No sign of power lines
We ran through dandelions
And our feet smoked
And every little bit
O every little bit
Was both the same
The streets were gravelly and cracked
The sun spread blisters on our backs
My brother warned me:
"Next town up, I think it's full of savages!"
We used our thumbs and traded names
And all the faces then
Or at least most of them
They seemed the same
We woke up to the sun when it had gotten unavoidable
Our empty satchels silent and our stomachs crumbling
And oh how we can't win
We'll pull through I'm sure
We saw the roof tops on a slope
No sign of power lines
We ran through dandelions
And our feet smoked
