Sharper Eyes Arthur Russell

Sharper Eyes - Arthur Russell
You got sharper eyes than me, old bird
To see a worm so far away
You shift your wing, you don't say a word
You knew just where the earthworm lay

Like melting snow, you have your way
No predator will watch your perch
I see you looking at the sky
It aids my sigh, it ends my search

Like birds, I watch your every movement
That climbs inside my heart's desire
But now, I find desire imbues it
My heart is stuck like birds on wire

How can these words reveal the season?
New leaves unfold in every breath
On grass I lay, could find no reason
Desire your touch or fear of death

I love your smile when you show it
Your fingers in my hand
When we fly like this, you know it
I love the bed on which we land
