Where the Dirt Road Stops Karen Peck & New River

Where the Dirt Road Stops - Karen Peck & New River
He walked with God for eighty years
Turned ninety yesterday
Through it all, the smiles and tears
The wrinkles and the gray
The clods beneath his feet have brought
Some aches and pains and groans
But every step was sweet because
It was one step closer home

There's a tattered Bible by his bed
Beneath the reading lamp
A get well card he's never read
That says, "We love you, Gramps"
He told us, "When it comes my time
Don't see it as the end
I'll meet you where the dirt road stops
And the streets of gold begin"

"I'll meet you where the journey
Is worth every tear that fell
These old bumps and bruises
From my ups and downs are well
Yes, I'll be waiting for you
We will run and shout again
I'll meet you where the dirt road stops
And the streets of gold begin"
