Folks, if you're ready to join me, I'd like to do a little reminiscing. I wanna take you back to some of the places where my kind of music really began. And I'll talk awhile about some of the people that made the music. But most of all, I wanna bring back the music just the way it was played in them good old days
And of course, we're starting down in my hometown of New Orleans. My man in those days was old Papa Joe Oliver. He was my friend and my teacher and my inspiration and a great creator
We're gonna start out with a number that goes back to the King Oliver Band and I was playing second cornet for Papa Joe when we made the first version of this one in 1923. We called this the Dippermouth Blues, one of my old nicknames. Some folks called it the Sugar Foot Stomp. No matter which way you call it, it still brings back a lot of memories
