Rosie Incognito

Rosie - Incognito
I gotta get these thoughts out my head
For some things need to be said
Y’all tell me to put it to rest
But this is serious topic
I need a lockpick
To unlock you mind
You all need to stop being so fucken blind
We all need a friend to confide in

I’m gonna introduce y’all to Rosey
Before y’all try to expose
She’s a person, that knows me
And she chose me
To write these lyrics
One night when she was in hysterics

A young girl with a troubled past
It all started a little fast
What is that you say?
She no longer wanted to look a certain way
Trapped behind a curtain, she was so uncertain
Of the way she looked, the way she dressed
So, stressed in her ways
Her weeks turned into days

Rosie struggled with the way she looked
All the teasing got her shook
A bully crying out for attention
A girl hiding behind her hair extensions
I forgot to mention
That Rosie struggled with body dysmorphia
You say what is that?
Hasn’t this been taught to ya?
Or is bullying just a sport to ya?
Trying to gain a reaction for your satisfaction
Every word you say, has sunk her deeper into despair
But you’re all apathetic… more like pathetic
Can’t you see these words make her hectic
You don’t believe the signs you’re a sceptic
But words tend to hurt just accept it
Let this be a lesson to you
Rosey never got her break-through
Too many hospital visits
You say your life is just as hard
Now is it?
People to caught up in their lives to see it
Self-love is important
As is we live a selfish age
A social media platform of rage and shame
I just wish Rosey knew I had her back
If her last message didn’t hit voicemail
I could have called her back
The thoughts and feelings of what I could have done
A sum total of all her hurt and pain
The bullies had so little to gain
All the words they said left a stain
Depression an obsession in the brain
This is a confession of a young girl
The pain she felt trapped in her cage
Her life was at such an early stage
I wonder what she would be like today
She could have been so successful one day
But things continued to remain this way
This country is so blind to suicide in our youth
People choosing not to listen isn’t that uncouth
Have our people all gone aloof
The media trying to tell us lies and the truth
But the stats are sky high
And as a nation of people can you explain to Rosie why?
